hot stone therapy

Heated basalt stones retain warmth longer and penetrate more deeply than hands alone, delivering consistent therapeutic heat to areas of chronic tension. Rather than being used as a relaxation add-on, hot stones are applied strategically—placed along the spine to ease paraspinal tightness, worked into dense musculature to soften long-standing holding patterns, or held over areas that instinctively guard against direct pressure.

The warmth allows tissue to become more pliable, increasing circulation and encouraging deeper release without force. When muscles are pre-warmed, they respond more efficiently to hands-on therapy, often allowing for deeper work with less discomfort.

This is not decorative heat—it is intentional therapeutic preparation. By calming the nervous system and reducing protective tension, hot stone therapy can create an environment where your body feels safe enough to let go.

What It Addresses:

Hot stone therapy may be particularly beneficial for:

• Chronic back and shoulder tension

• Stress-related muscle guarding

• Cold, dense musculature resistant to pressure

• Nervous systems that remain on high alert

• Clients who struggle to relax into deeper work

• Recovery from prolonged stress or fatigue

• Enhancing circulation and tissue pliability

By gently encouraging parasympathetic activation, the heat supports both physical and nervous system regulation.

How We Work:

Stones may be integrated into any massage session as preparatory work or used as the primary modality for deeply restorative treatment. We assess where heat will be most effective—whether to soften tissue before focused therapeutic work or to provide sustained warmth to areas that resist manual pressure.

Intensity and duration are carefully monitored to ensure comfort and safety. As the tissue warms and begins to soften, hands-on techniques may be layered in to extend the therapeutic benefit.

Grounded warmth. Strategic release. Deep restoration.
