Continuing Education as a Provider: Why We Never Stop Learning
One of the most sacred responsibilities of being a wellness provider is the commitment to growth — not just for our clients, but for ourselves. At Alleviating Hands, we believe that the moment we stop learning is the moment we stop truly serving. Continuing education isn't just a box to check or a credential to hang on the wall. It's a living, breathing part of our practice — a way of honoring the trust our clients place in us every time they step through our door.
Today, we want to pull back the curtain a little and share why continuing education matters so deeply to us, and give you a glimpse into something truly extraordinary that's on our horizon.
Why Providers Must Keep Growing
The field of bodywork, energy work, and holistic wellness is not static. New research continues to emerge. Ancient wisdom traditions are being rediscovered and refined. Innovative practitioners around the world are developing techniques that push the boundaries of what we thought was possible. For us to serve you at the highest level, we must be willing to sit in the student's seat — again and again.
There's also something deeply personal in it. Continuing education keeps us inspired. It reconnects us with the wonder that drew us to this work in the first place. When we return from a training immersed in new learning, we bring that energy back into the room with us. Our clients feel it. The work deepens.
We also believe that the best practitioners are perpetually humble. No matter how many years of experience we have, there is always more to understand about the human body, the human heart, and the mystery of healing. That humility is what keeps us honest, curious, and genuinely present for each person we work with.
"Commit to a lifetime of learning. The more you know, the more you can give."
What Continuing Education Looks Like for Us
For us, continuing education takes many forms. We engage in regular peer supervision and case study sharing with fellow practitioners. We attend workshops, webinars, and intensives. We read voraciously — research papers, books on anatomy, somatic psychology, and the history of healing traditions. We seek out mentors who challenge us and peers who inspire us.
We also believe deeply in the value of training in person, in community, and sometimes — in places far from home. There is something irreplaceable about immersing yourself in a learning environment alongside practitioners from around the world, exchanging perspectives, techniques, and experiences that you simply cannot get from a screen.
Which brings us to something very exciting that we are thrilled to share with you.
We're Going to Spain: An Invitation to the Sangha Festival
We are absolutely honored and overjoyed to announce that Alleviating Hands has been personally invited by Sandra Jersby — founder of the renowned Stretch A Method — to participate in the Sangha Festival in Spain.
This is not just any training opportunity. The Sangha Festival is a gathering of healers, movers, bodyworkers, and wellness practitioners from across the globe — a living, breathing community of people who are passionate about the art and science of helping others heal. To be welcomed into that circle is a profound privilege, and one we do not take lightly.
Who Is Sandra Jersby and What Is the Stretch A Method?
Sandra Jersby is a visionary in the world of movement and bodywork. Her Stretch A Method is a sophisticated, deeply thoughtful approach to assisted stretching that integrates principles from yoga, physical therapy, and somatic work. What makes Sandra's approach distinctive is not just the technical skill involved — it's the philosophy underneath it. The Stretch A Method honors the whole person, recognizes the intelligence of the body, and creates space for healing that goes far beyond the physical.
Being invited by Sandra to train alongside her community in Spain is an extraordinary vote of confidence and an invitation to deepen our practice at the highest level. We are humbled and energized in equal measure.
What This Means for You, Our Clients
Everything we learn in Spain, we bring home to you. Every new technique mastered, every insight gained, every perspective expanded through training with world-class practitioners from across the globe — it all flows back into the sessions we offer here at Alleviating Hands.
This trip is an investment — in our growth, yes, but most importantly in the quality of care we provide to every single person who trusts us with their healing. We are committed to returning with fresh eyes, new tools, and an even deeper capacity to meet you wherever you are.
Stay Tuned
In the coming weeks and months, we'll be sharing more about our preparation for the Sangha Festival, insights from Sandra Jersby and the Stretch A Method, and eventually — dispatches from Spain itself. We are going to bring you along on this journey as much as we can, because we believe that learning shared is learning multiplied.
Thank you, as always, for being part of the Alleviating Hands community. Your support, your trust, and your openness to healing are what make all of this possible. We do this work because of you, and we grow because of you.
"A healer does not heal you. A healer is someone who holds space for you while you awaken your inner healer." — Maryam Hasnaa
